Day 60: Karijini to Peawah River Rest Area

Today we drove from Karijini to Peawah River, a free rest area south of Port Hedland. The drive took 4 1/2 hours but an hour of that was spent at stops for fuel, morning tea, etc. The Auski Roadhouse was a fuel stop where we also bought a loaf of bread for $5 - it must have had gold chips between the slices.....

The rest area was OK - quite a few fellow travellers, a toilet (would not recommend using) some shade and the usual flies - the flies have really been shocking since we left Port Hedland - heaps of people wearing fly nets over their hats. I tried my fly net and I could see it would be useful if you were camping. We were able to get into our van to evade them.

Today is my birthday - I think I'm 46 but my memory is going with age - could be 56??? We did the usual pressies and Lorelle also managed to bake me a cake in our van oven and we also had van-made pizza for dinner - a good but different birthday!
