Day 21: Jabiru to Katherine Gorge (Nitmiluk)

Nothing too exciting to report today: We headed off at 8:30am after saying farewell to Gary & Joan (and watching Gary empty his porta potty!).

The drive to Pine Creek was a bit boring and the road was quite windy. We had morning tea their and then continued on to the camping ground at Nitmiluk. There is a huge visitor centre and restaurant at the gorge where we checked in. Thge camping ground is nice and has an excellent pool and bistro. It was so nice that we decided to buy dinner and sit around the pool until 8pm listening to live music. Apparently there is some form of entertainment each night.

The animal life is abundant and the wallabies are so gentle and tame I'd like to keep one as a pet!

We are staying here four nights. Doug has to get some new tyres on Monday and we just need some down-time. Tomorrow we are going into Katherine which looks like a thriving town (9000 people) to do some basic shopping. We will probably do a cruise of the gorge on Sunday.  Othere things we will consider are the thermal springs, the Cutta Cutta Caves, and Edith Falls, about 60km out of town.

Nitmiluk is 30km from Katherine.
