Day 25: Nitmiluk to East Baines River rest area

We are on our way to Kununurra and although we could do it in one day - why rush? So we stopped at 1:30pm at the East Baines River rest area, 57km west of Timber Creek and about 190km east of Kununurra. It's a nice shady rest area with tank water - no toilets - we don't need water or toilets however.

The drive between Nitmiluk and here was actually quite interesting. We passed through the extensive Gregory National Park which has wonderful looking escarpments and landforms plus the enormous Victoria River - this is no small stream - it is huge with lovely clear water & I imagine, heaps of crocs!!

We should have probably stopped at the Victoria River Roadhouse because it looked like a pretty place to stay, but this rest area is good and it's free.

We had a bit of a rest this afternoon - one investment we made before leaving on our trip was a 12v box fan - the best thing we ever bought. It provides just as much breeze as a 240v fan and plugs into any of our 12v sockets.

This afternoon we went fishing at the bridge on the river. What a fantastic sunset. I took my camera but unfotunately I was fishing - didn't catch anything but got some bites.

Tonight we played cards - there were about 6 vehicles in the rest area in the middle of nowhere. We were the only ones up late....
