Day 23: Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge)

Today we went on the two hour breakfast cruise. It was excellent. There was not a great deal of animal life because there is too much water in other areas of NT at the moment. Nitmiluk apparently never runs dry so as other areas dry out, the bird life comes here.

The scenery however is spectacular - no swimming in the gorges at the moment due to the strong possibility of estuarine crocs (the big fellas)!  We saw a freshie today - probably 2-3 metres long - see my photos.

There are also a lot of snakes in NT - we have seen many and I ran over a two metre black snake this afternoon when I was driving back from Katherine - had some chores to do.

Today was Mothers Day - I gave Lorelle a gold heart which I had purchased in Gatton a couple of months ago. Mark one down for the guys!

It was also good to talk to our mums in Brissie.

Not much else to report today - a bit of R&R. Maybe cards tonight.......
