Day 22: Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge)

It was meant to be a more leisurely day today but we still never seemed to stop.

We drove into Katherine at about 10am after visiting the Information Centre and making a booking for tomorrow - Lorelle and I are going on a two hour breakfast cruise at 7am (approx $80 each). It is meant to be a great time for photography and animal life.  (It is also Mothers Day!)  Doug & Sue are going on a four hour three gorge cruise at 11am. They are far more adventurous than us!

Any, back to Katherine - we went to a camping store and bought some odds & ends - I can't resist a camping store!

We then went to the Katherine markets - a small affair but we purchased an aboriginal painting which we will be posting home and get framed when we return to Gatton later in the year. We had been looking for a piece for some time so it was now or never.

After that we went to the Katherine Thermal Springs which are quite nice, but like everything else, they are recovering from the recent wet season.

Then it was off to Woolworths to top up our groceries and then back to the camp.

We were about to have a swim at around 5pm when we got talking to some nearby campers who had just arrived near us. Doug & Sue came over and that soon became a happy hour or two.

Happy Mother's Day for tomorrow to Mums St Clair and Smith. We're thinking of you!!!!
