Day 24: Nitmiluk

We left for Katherine at 8:30am. Doug had already gone into town to get a wheel alignment and two new front tyres so we picked him up then went to the Post Office to mail some things back home that we had bought and no longer needed.

We then drove to Edith Falls, about 60km north of katherine. Unfortunately the main falls swimming area was closed - guesswhy? Crocs! After the wet every year, heaps of the best swimming areas are closed until the rangers are sure there are no cros around........

Anyway, we took some photos of the falls and a huge, enticing swimming area. These falls and swimming area were very similar to the Wangi Falls at Litchfield which were also closed!

There is a nice camping ground at the base of the falls (Phil K, take note when you come this way later in year) which looked quite good - no power but clean amenities and a shop.

So, we then set off on the 2km round trip walking track to the upper swimming hole. It was the middle of the day and it was quite hot but we made it and the swimming was fantastic - refer to photos.

After returning from the walk (expedition) we had lunch and off back to Nitmiluk.

Tomorrow we leave Nitmiluk heading for Kununurra in WA. It will take two days to get there.
