Day 86: Cervantes to New Norcia

We only had a short drive today but the weather was freezing cold and raining all gthe way. When we left Cervantes it was 11 degrees. It slowly dropped to 8 degrees over the next hour.

We stopped at the Emu Park Wind farm along the way - they have 48 wind turbines and each one will supply the equivalent of 1000 houses. Pretty good! I'm going to put a few in at Gatton!!

We then stopped at Moora for morning tea. We just got there in time because just after we ordered, about 20 members of ther Ulysses Motorcycle Club arrived on a day trip from Perth and they all wanted coffee!

We then headed into New Norcia, a town owned and run by Benedictine Monks. They started the town in the 1840s and it is still there today.  We visited the Art Gallery and museum which contained a lot of Art works, some of them from the 1600s. We then went on a two hour guided tour of the town which was interesting but a bit long-winded.  After that we visited the hotel, also owned and run by the monks. We sat in the pub near a heater and had the ale made by the monks followed by a warming local port.

We then retreated to our vans for hot showers and as I type this, we are about to cook tea and then play cards again tonight.
