Day 96: Margaret River

Well, it rained on and off all last night and most of today as well. When the going gets tough the tough get going so we were not going to be deterred by a bit of falling damp. We visited a variety of places in the Margaret River area including:-

Half-a-dozen wineries & a liquer outlet (purchased 6 bottles of white)
A cookie shop (where they make them) (Purchased some ginger nuts and cheese biscuits)
A coffee/tea producer (Purchased some darjeeling tea)
A chocolate shop (Nil)
A cheese shop (Purchased some garlic-herb cheese)
A wool shop (2 scarves)

A lolly shop (Nil)
A nut and grains shop (Some meusli)
Plus other asssorted shops

In comparison to the wineries at Stanthorpe, many wineries here are more up-market - there is a lot more money spent on the grounds, buildings and eateries in many of the wineries.  Interestingly, the wine industry has only been going here since for the last 35-40 years.

It was a big day and Doug and I did a fair bit of hanging around outside a couple of the stores while Lorelle & Sue looked around inside................

No photos today.

Tomorrow, we head off to Pemberton (tall trees area) where we hope to catch a tram which goes through scenic jarrah & karri forests. The weather forecast is however not good.

Tonight we are going out to a pub in Margaret River for dinner.  We will have had four nights here - you could easily fill in a week or two.........

  1. Still checking out what you lot have been up to each day. If any consolation - weather is crappy over here too. Bloody freezing to be exact.
